Tasty Tuesday - Brussels Sprouts Divine

Yesterday I showed you our sausage-making recipe - all 25 pounds of German Green Chile sausage.  The best part of Sausage Day is having some freshly grilled patties for supper!

But what about that other tasty concoction found on our Sunday Dinner Plate?  No, not referring to the corn - though it was delicious!  We like to 'put up' fresh corn each fall by cutting it off the cob and freezing it.  Makes it so simple to pull a baggie out of the freezer, toss it in a pan with a little water, bring to a boil, then steam for a few minutes.  Add some cream cheese, or butter and ground pepper - so delicious.  But what I am talking about are those green things.  Yeah, those are  Brussels Sprouts

I know. . . I know. . . I didn't think much of those little mini-cabbages until just a couple months ago.  And who would guess it - but J-girl educated her folks and got them eat their veggies - You Go Girl!  And here's how she did it:

Brussels Sprouts Divine

1 1/2 pounds fresh Brussels sprouts, halved

3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon dill weed (optional)
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Steam Brussels sprouts halves until tender, about 12-14 minutes. Combine butter, mustard, lemon juice, dill, and pepper. Drain Brussels sprouts; add butter mixture and mix well.   And (believe it or not) ENJOY!

So there you have it- grilled German Green Chile burgers, Brussels Sprouts and frozen-fresh corn.  Does Sunday dinner get much better than that?  I don't think so!

Oh wait!  Hubster made a squash dessert (think pumpkin pie) with fresh pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon. . . and I'm not entirely sure what else.  I do know that it was a delicious treat to end the weekend.

Yes.  We are, indeed, an 'equal-opportunity', waste-not-want-not' kind of family who shares with the entire family - even the dogs. Here's Jaz enjoying his 'share' of the pork (in the form of a bone out of the pork roast we used for the sausage).

Have a delectable kind of day ~
