Sewing Up An Adventure

Had the best time on Friday!  A new-found friend, Mrs. B, and I vamoosed out of town and visited Lillie's Classic Quilts in Independence, Kansas - a 45 minute drive south of us.

Oh!  What a colorful time we had!!

Everyone working at Lillie's was so knowledgeable and helpful and the owner so willing to help you find exactly what you needed for your project.  They even knew Mrs. B by name!

The shop was named after the owner's Grandmother and has such a warm, homey, welcoming feel to its layout and decorating.  This beautiful couch is right by the door with the lovely afternoon sunlight coming through.

It's a perfect spot to skim through one of the many quilting books available at Lillies and dream of your next project.

Or gaze at the many quilts within view displayed both up above on the walls (did you see that tin ceiling?), or on the beds, or even between each shelf filled with beautiful fabrics. . .  Just look at all those fabulous colors and patterns and designs!

The quilts are not just for show - but also for sale.

Prefer to make the quilt yourself? They've got the kits available - complete with fabric and templates/patterns as well as available workspace near the back of the store for you to get started.  Wow!  Or maybe you want to learn more about a certain technique?  They have the classes for that too!  Mrs. B said to be quick about signing up because they do reach capacity in a hurry.

Mrs. B and I spent quite a long time looking at all the fabrics. . . and looking at them again.  And then I had to go and look at all of them once again.   I had promised myself that I would buy No Fabric unless I had a specific plan for it.  I did really well and then. . . .

I just couldn't help myself!

Yup.  Birds get me every time. . . . I've already got some ideas for these fabrics churning in my head.  Aren't they gorgeous?  The bottom fabric is called antique linen and looks positively hand tea-dyed.

Mrs. B also found some fabric and batting and thread and. . . . . I'm SO GLAD she showed me this shop and we had such a fun time.  I'm sure we'll be going back often.

Have a stitched up kind of day ~
