Foodie Friday: Baking and Biscuits

I thought Hubster was one chip short of a chocolate chip cookie when he suggested making these cheesy-garlic biscuits the other day.  I mean, the temperature of the oven to bake these tasty morsels was going to be about as hot as it was outside.  Seriously.  But, I'm very glad he ignored me, persevered, and served these biscuits full of all their yummy goodness with our second-day (sounds better than leftover, don't you agree?) Gumbo.

The base to the recipe is start our version of a basic drop biscuit - here's the copy we keep taped to the inside of our cabinet door - ready at a 'drop-biscuit' notice!

 Garlic-Cheese-Chives Drop Biscuits

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp of chives
2 tsp of garlic powder
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup milk
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and prepare your cookie sheet.  There's no need to grease the pan if it's a good non-stick one.

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients (first five items listed in recipe, chives, and garlic powder).

In a separate bowl, combine wet ingredients (melted butter and milk), including 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.  Add combined wet ingredients to dry ingredient mixture and mix until just blended.

Using a spoon or your fingers, scoop out approximately 1/3 cup portions of the biscuit dough

and 'drop' them onto the cookie sheet, spacing them a finger or two apart.

Bake 8 - 12 minutes until golden.

Let rest for a few minutes before removing from pan.

No need to butter these babies - they've got all the tasty goodness a person can handle - DELISH!

These taste absolutely awesome when warm and are still mighty tasty the next day at room temperature.

Have a Heatwave kind of day ~
